The owner of the former Keno King at 65th Street and Ames Avenue is trying to get a new liquor license. And the past problems at the lounge were fresh on the minds of City Council members during Tuesday’s meeting.
The council voted 7-0 against the license. Now the owner’s request will go before the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission for a final determination.
Councilman Pete Festersen, who represents the area, said he’s not willing to put neighbors through the problems again.
“The fact is it doesn’t work,” he said. “It doesn’t work for the neighborhood, and it doesn’t work for the police department.”
